Your annual allowances:
If you are still a tax resident with S.A.R.S, you can transfer up to R1 million per calendar year without S.A.R.S approval.
You can apply for an A.I.T (Approval International Transfer) from S.A.R.S to transfer more than $1 million (up to R10 million).
Opening a bank account in South Africa:
When transferring Rands abroad, we work with J.P. Blue Capital Consulting (Pty) Ltd, Capitec Business Bank and Investec Bank Limited to open an account for you in South Africa.
You need to have your barcoded ID book or smart ID card and your South African tax number to be able to open a bank account in South Africa.
These accounts are not transaction accounts (such as internet banking or bank cards). They are trading accounts used solely for foreign exchange purposes.
How long does it take to transfer my Rands overseas?
Once I receive your application forms and supporting documents, it typically takes 1 to 2 days for the Authorised Dealer (Bank) to open your account.
Once you have transferred your funds into the account, it usually takes about 3 business days to reflect in your overseas bank account.
